General overview

Arimidex or Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor that helps bodybuilders to reduce the estrogen level during the steroid cycle. It suppresses the aromatase enzyme, in this way blocking the transformation of testosterone into estrogen. It helps to prevent plenty of side effects resulting from elevated estrogen levels, such as Gynecomastia.

How Arimidex Works

Arimidex is a relatively new compound: it was introduced in the 1990s. It’s capable of reducing the estrogen levels by up to 80% (1).

When your exogenous testosterone (the one you get from injectable anabolic steroids) gets high, two things happen:

  1. Your natural Testosterone gets suppressed;
  2. Your aromatase enzymes start actively converting excessive (from their standpoint, of course) testosterone into estrogen, the female sex hormone.

The result is seriously damaging: you get unnaturally high levels of estrogen. You can get all sorts of side effects from it. Arimidex acts as an inhibitor: it blocks your aromatase enzymes and stops their harmful activity. In simple terms, it connects to the enzyme itself, and the enzyme can’t connect to the testosterone molecule to perform the conversion.

The usage of Arimidex

You have to use Arimidex in concordance with the other compounds you are using. The most famous cycle is Test-E in the dosage of 500 mg per week for 12 weeks. Usually, Arimidex is introduced in the second week of the process and is used during the cycle. It is better to start taking it on the second because your organism will be ready to combat aromatization before it starts to occur.

How to Take Arimidex?

The compound comes in oral form, therefore you can take it as regular pills during your cycle.

Fact check: no, food does not affect Arimidex molecules, you can take it before, during, or after meal. (2)

The best time to introduce it to your cycle is around week 2. You don’t need to stop Arimidex during the whole cycle. The dose depends on the exact steroids in your stack, how powerful they are, and how high are the doses.

How to recognize when the estrogen lowers and rises?

If you take too much Arimidex, the estrogen level will be low, the side effects will be visible. Here are some of them:

  • Low sex drive

  • Unstable mood

  • Poor orgasm

  • Depression

  • Low appetite

  • Fatigue

  • Dry skin

  • Low water balance

Here are some of the side effects of high estrogen level:

  • Oily skin

  • Depression

  • Desire for sweets

  • Aggression

  • Erectile dysfunction

  • Low sex drive

  • Gynecomastia

Therefore, you have to be accurate with the dosage of Arimidex. If you do not want to make mistakes, you should begin at the minimal possible dose, analyze the body's reaction to it, and change as needed. It will take some time, but this is important to do it carefully because Anastrozole is a powerful drug.

The difference between Arimidex and Aromasin

Arimidex is an obsolete compound, potent, but it can disorder your hormone level if you do not know how to use it. If the athlete only starts with anabolics, it is recommended to go with Aromasin after Arimidex because it is lighter. However, if you have experience in steroid cycles, Arimidex can also be useful.

Conclusions and recommendations

It will be the best decision first to take time to understand your organism's reaction to Aromasin and Arimidex rather than making conclusions based on the information read on the non-reliable sources. Always buy from a trusted source that carries Anastrozole for bodybuilding.
