Profile (History, Chemical Structure, Characteristics)

Boldenone undecylenate (also known under the trademark Equipoise, Boldabol, Boldebal, Boldesten, Ganabol) is an injectable anabolic steroid developed for veterinary use.

Chemically, Equipoise is a molecule of testosterone, which has a double bond between carbon atoms 1 and 2. The modification has made Boldenone as powerful as testosterone, with regards to its anabolic properties, while the androgenic properties of the drug are two times less expressed. Nevertheless, experience shows that Equipoise provides lower results than the equivalent amount of testosterone does.

Boldenone undecylenate is often compared with Nandrolone. Obviously, this is connected with Dan Duchaine's book (1) in which the author draws a parallel between these two drugs, noting, however, that Boldenone is a stronger anabolic. Indeed, Boldenone and Nandrolone differ in their action.

As an interesting fact, Boldenone was originally introduced as a veterinary compound. Studies on rabbits (2) concluded that the treated groups had a significant increase in total body weight, daily gain and feed efficiency. It was a massive success back then, but nowadays — Equipoise is way more popular among people.

Nandrolone is a progestine and 19-nor steroid while Boldenone in its function is closer to testosterone. Later, Dan Duchaine has revised his opinion of the similarity of these two drugs; however, on forums you may still find messages with pieces of advice against combining Boldenone and Nandrolone because of the similarity of the products. Dan Duchaine also writes that Equipoise suits better for making relief and venous visibility than for the growth of muscle mass.

New forms of the drug: Boldenone Acetate and Boldenone Propinate have the same effects, the difference lies only in the duration of action.

Characteristics

  • Androgenic activity index: 50%;
  • Anabolic activity index: 100%;
  • Aromatization: low
  • Progestogenic activity: very low
  • Hepatoxicity: no

Effects

  • Athletes taking Boldenone often report the slow but high lean muscle growth.

It is believed that the slow effect of the drug is associated with a long ester (undecylenate) which is joint to the molecule of equipoise. Undecylenate is one atom longer than decanoate. For this reason, a more slow and sustained growth of muscles is expected during the Equipoise course as distinguished from the Nandrolone course. This also determines the duration of the course - up to 10 weeks. Competing athletes should always keep in mind that Equipoise, as well as Deca, has the extremely long detection time.

  • The drug increases your strength and enhances your appetite.
  • Equipoise greatly stimulates hemapoiesis (blood-forming). Elevated levels of red blood cells improve oxygen delivery to the muscles. It makes this steroid attractive for track and field athletes.

Dosages and Uses

The optimal dose of Boldenone is 400-800 mg once a week. As a rule, smaller dosages are less effective, higher dosages do not lead to better results but increase the risk of side effects.

Boldenone cycle lasts for 8-10 weeks.

Equipoise combines well with other steroids:  Winstrol and Anavar - for lean mass (cut up); Testosterone and Trenbolone - for bulk up (in this case the duration of the course is reduced to 6 weeks due to a significant suppression of natural testosterone production and the need to add anti-estrogens to the course).

Please, consult an expert before you start the course of Equipoise.

In 2 weeks after your last injection, start the PCT with taking testosterone boosters for a month to restore natural production of testosterone.

To maximize the effectiveness of the course, take a complex for lean muscle growth and stick to a muscle-building diet.

Equipoise Cycle and Results

EQ (Boldenone) is one of the most versatile steroids in its group. You can use it for bulking or for body recomp, it will be equally effective. Here are some of the most common cycles involving Equipoise, time-tested and proven to be effective.

Combined Cycle for Bulk Up

Boldenone + Testosterone enanthate. Required:

  1. Equipose 200 or 250 mg / ml
  2. Testosterone enanthate 250 mg / ml
  3. Tamoxifen 10 mg (tablets)
  4. Anastrozole (1 mg / tablet), or Letrozole (2.5 mg / tablet)

It is one of the best cycles for begginers. Equipoise helps to reduce the dosage of testosterone, with no harm to the anabolic effects, thereby reducing both the internal conversion of steroids into estrogens and androgen activity of the cycle. Tamoxifen almost completely eliminates the possibility of estrogen-related side effects.

  • Week 1-8: Equipoise 800 mg / week
  • Week 1-8: Testosterone Enanthate 500 mg/ml
  • Week 1-10: Anastrozole or Letrozole, according to the results of estradiol analysis
  • Week 11-13: Tamoxifen 20 mg / day
  • Week14: Tamoxifen 10 mg / day

Combined Cycle for Lean Mass

This cycle is largely based on the previous one, however, the inclusion of Winstrol provides the high lean muscle growth.

You need:

  1. Boldenone 200 mg / ml
  2. Testosterone propionate 100mg / ml
  3. Winstrol 50mg / ml (or in tablets)
  4. Anastrozole (1 mg tablets), or Letrozole (2.5 mg tablets)
  5. Tamoxifen - 20 mg tablets

It's more on the advanced side but still does not require any complicated timing or protocol:

  • Week 1-8: Equipoise 800 mg / week
  • Week1-8: Testosterone propionate 100mg / ml every 2d day
  • Week 6-10: Winstrol 50mg / ml  every day ( or 10-20 mg / day in tablets)
  • Week 1-10: Anastrozole or Letrozole, according to the results of estradiol analysis
  • Week 11-13 PCT with tamoxifen
